Turning Ideas Into Action

Have you been dreaming of starting a new business, expanding on the one you already have, or trying something completely different here in our area?

November 16, you’ll want to find your way to a panel discussion with six very unique, passionate, and interesting entrepreneurs from throughout eastern South Dakota.

Tech giants Carla Kay White, Will Bushee, and Jeff Eckhoff will be joined by three agricultural entrepreneurial families. They will be there to discuss doing business in our state, the unique opportunities and challenges that presents, and thinking outside-the-box when it comes to building and supporting sustainable growth within rural communities.

The event is designed to inspire, foster the passion you already have for what you are doing, and answer questions. It is free and open to the public.

As to the panelists themselves and why he chose who he chose, co-organizer Mike Huber of Sioux Falls, said, “Carla was first woman to get an app put on Apple ITunes, Author of ‘Idea to Iphone’ and she continues to reach out to assist others in entrepreneurship. Will is the Author of ‘Wired for Coding’ and he teaches coding to youth in the area through his company Code Bootcamp,” and they are just two of the panelists scheduled to be in town that evening.

Huber is a financial advisor passionate about seeing South Dakotans succeed, and he’s working in a number of communities to get people to look at new ways of doing just that. His hopes for the event in Flandreau: “First, would be to see communities begin to put together entrepreneurial groups to meet regularly and support each other in fostering ideas. Secondly, would be to demonstrate that we all should start building ourselves as a brand right away and see ourselves as entrepreneurs.”

The event is scheduled for November 16, 6 p.m. at Mad Mary’s in Flandreau. There will be a cash bar and light hors d’ouvres.
