Tom Callahan, age 86, of Wentworth, SD, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
Thomas Patrick Callahan was born in DeSmet, SD to Leo and Stella (O’Connor) Callahan on May 2, 1932.  He graduated from Rutland High School.  Tom married Mary Jane Kiley on January 29, 1955 in Sioux Falls, SD.  Tom farmed all of his life on a farm near Wentworth, SD.
He was a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Madison.  Tom wintered in Mesa, AZ for 28 years.  He loved playing cards, golfing, throwing horse shoes, eating ice cream and enjoyed visiting with people.   Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  
Tom is survived by his two sons: Mike (Kim) of Cascade, ID and Brian (Heather) of Kuna, ID; five daughters: Susan Pederson of Harrisburg, SD, Sandy (Tony) Pederson of Alexandria, MN, Lisa (Doug) Boer of Madison, SD, Bridget (Butch) Hanson of Brookings, SD and Kari (Rod) Schmidt of Colman, SD; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; one brother: Joe; his in-laws Bernie and Sally Trausch, Elaine Petersen and Sylvia Callahan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane; son, Paul; son-in-law, Jeff Pederson and parents, Leo and Stella Callahan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 13th at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father DeWayne Kayser as the Celebrant.  Visitation will be 5-7 PM on Friday at Weiland Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 PM and a Rosary to follow.  Visitation will continue from 9:30-10:30 AM on Saturday at the church.  Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
