“As summer enters the last few weeks, many people are trying to sneak in their final vacations, summer activities, and enjoy time with friends and family. This becomes the most challenging time of the year to get residents to give blood,” states Lauri Hoffmann, Program Coordinator, Community Blood Bank.”In 30 minutes donors can provide lifesaving blood to 3 local patients. If a person is looking for a way to give back this summer, consider donating blood. The process is simple and could even save the life of someone in your immediate family, a loved one, or a neighbor. The action of donating could provide a lifetime of hope for someone critically ill. Join us at Avera Flandreau Hospital Thursday, August 17.”
Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org), weigh 110 lbs or more and be in good general health the day of the donation. Please bring an I.D. It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluid prior to donating.
