ELKTON – The Flandreau girls took fifth and the boys finished 10th at the Vince Relays on a beautiful nearly 80 degree day last Saturday.

Girls

The Fliers won four events, including the 4x100 (55.13) and 4x200 (1:55.18) relays.

Madeline Hursey won the 1,600 (5:53.43) and was runner-up in the 800 (2:38.61).

Ashtyn Bertram was victorious in the 100 in 13.45. Flandreau wound up third in the 4x400 in 4:41.08.

Kylie Bertram placed fourth in both the 100 (13.72) and long jump (14-4 1/2).

Elizabeth Hursey took fifth in the 800 (2:45.93) and seventh in the 400 (1:07.88).

Mara Lunday added a seventh-place showing in the long jump (13-8 1/4).

Dell Rapids finished with 129 team points, while Lakeview was second at 104.5. Sioux Valley (98) ended up third. Flandreau was fifth at 72.

Boys

Gabe Bird led the Fliers with a second-place showing in the 800 with a 2:21.35 clocking.

Dalyn Bakkedahl placed second in the triple jump (38-9 1/4) and third in the long jump (18-6 1/2).

Luke Behrens finished third in the 400 (57.84) and seventh in the 200 (24.92).

Taking sixth for Flandreau were Trevor Hahn in the 400 (1:00.37), Lars Dailey in the 800 (2:29.01) and Ben Hobbie in the 1,600 (5:23.98).

The Fliers finished sixth in the 4x100 in 50.59.

Mario Bonilla was eighth in both the 800 (2:32.16) and 1,600 (5:29.98).

The Quarriers racked up 149 points. Oldham-Ramona/Rutland (85) was second, followed by Lake Preston (68) in third. Flandreau (41) was 10th.
