Rita C. Aaker, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at her home in Sioux Falls.  
Rita Carol Aaker was born June 27, 1948 in Flandreau, SD to Walter L. and Florence M. (Wagner) Aaker.  She was raised on a farm in Moody County and received her education in Jasper, MN graduating from Jasper High School in 1966.  Following high school Rita earned her Junior Accounting degree in Minneapolis, MN.  Rita then began working for Northwestern Bell where she worked in the computer room as a software technician in Marshall and New Hope, MN.  Rita then made her home in Omaha NE where she worked for Century Link until her retirement in 2003. In her retirement she worked for IBM in Omaha until retiring again in 2009.  Rita then made her home in Sioux Falls, SD to be near family in 2011.
Rita was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church while living in Moody County and was currently a member of Brandon Lutheran Church in Brandon, SD.
Rita enjoyed crocheting, crafts, reading, shopping, traveling, trying new restaurants, attending plays and collecting Department 56 villages. She was generous with her time and took great pride in volunteering and her support at the Siena/Francis House in Omaha.  Above all, Rita loved her family and looked forward to the week-long family reunions.  Rita was a loving sister, aunt, great-aunt, niece, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed.
Grateful for having shared her life are her three siblings: Brenda (Jim) Margadant, Rapid City, SD, Sheila (Don) Aaker, Brandon, SD and Orin (Sherry) Aaker, Ochlocknee, GA; nieces and nephews: Benjamin (Beth) Aaker and their children, Aiden & Remy, Joe (Lauren) Aaker and their daughters, Genevieve and Luella, James (Stephanie Norton) Margadant and their daughter, Avery, Lee Margadant, Jana (Patrick) Hirth and their son, Lucas, David J. (Serena) Aaker and their son, A’den, Matthew “Scott” Aaker and Brian (Tabitha) Aaker; Rita’s uncle, Emery Braa, Virginia Beach, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Florence Aaker; and infant brother, Walter Mark Aaker.
A memorial service was held June 3, 2019 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls.  Memorial donations can be made to the Bethania Cemetery Association.
