Richard D. Pedersen, age 91, of Sioux Falls, SD passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
Richard Donald Pedersen was born July 3, 1927, south of Flandreau, SD, to Anton and Marie (Sorensen) Pedersen. He attended Egan Public School and graduated from Egan High School in 1946 and then farmed west of Egan near Lone Tree. On December 18, 1949, Richard was united in marriage to Jean Croon at the Lutheran Church in Chester, SD. The couple lived on a farm at Egan until moving to Sioux Falls in 1954. Richard went to work for Duke Tufty Automotive and in 1960 went to work for Sioux Falls Stockyards as a hog buyer. In semi-retirement he worked for Rochester Armored Car and later for the City of Sioux Falls at the leaf drop off. They made their home in Sioux Falls and spent a lot of time at their cabin on Lake Traverse at Browns Valley, MN, where Richard enjoyed fishing. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls and the Sioux Falls Elks.
Richard is survived by his wife, Jean and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, 1 brother, Soren and 2 sisters, Anna and Jennie.
