Raymond Paul was born December 10, 1934, to Edythe and William Toates on the family homestead in Colman, S.D. He was the oldest of seven children and worked on the farm with his parents and family. Ray and LaNell married in 1977 and celebrated their 40th anniversary on April 2. He adopted her three children and loved them as his own.
He enjoyed the outdoors, working with his hands, singing in the choir, listening to his wife play the piano, gardening, traveling, telling a good joke, discussing politics or the latest book he had read, but most of all he enjoyed being surrounded by his large family.
He showed by example how to live a godly life and was always encouraging his family to do the right thing.
