This quilt block, created by Deb Knutson of Trent, will be on display next Tuesday, Oct. 17 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church as part of the Brookings and Flandreau #1189 Coteau Quester’s quilting documentation by Mary Fitzgerald. She recently completed a book, “South Dakota Quilts and Quilt Makers” featuring quilts from several local women. A tasting tea begins at 6:30 and the program at 7 p.m. An $8 donation will include refreshments and door prizes. There will be a raffle drawing for an autographed book and viewing of quilts. Here, Knutson shows the commemorative block she created for South Dakota Public Broadcasting as a complimentary gift. SDPB produced a documentary, now on DVD, “Points of Pride: South Dakota’s Quilting Heritage,” which is available with a donation to SDPB. Different donation levels are available and may include the quilt block, the book and the DVD. The documentary will also be shown at the program.
