Old Man Winter rears his head

Strong winds whipped a fresh two inches of snow into a blizzard all around the area late last week. Driving was dangerous because of the limited visibility. First responders were called to a few accidents Thursday, during the worst of the blizzard conditions, but nothing that resulted in serious injuries, said Moody County Sheriff Troy Wellman. A pickup and camper rolled on the interstate and deputies and South Dakota Highway Patrol troopers were called to a couple of accidents near Colman later in the afternoon or early evening.
On Friday, when conditions improved, there were up to 10 calls that included a couple of rollovers and other people who went in the ditch. “They were setting their cruises before they should have,” Wellman said.
