On Saturday, July 11, 28 volunteers showed up for a work bee at the Big Sioux Baptist Church. Now that the new church is able to utilized, the old church, consisting of a grouping of trailer homes is being dismantled. Most of the volunteers came from Eastside Baptist Church in Sioux Falls but some helpers came from as far away as Hudson, SD. The crew got a good start but the removal will be continuing. Pastor Dave Lillibridge said more volunteers showed up than he was expecting. Lillibridge is considering several different options for utilizing the lot after the old structures are removed, including a possible “community garden” space and is interested in community input on other potential uses.
