Kelley-Porter Post 70 & Gordon Weston Post meet Monday
Members of the American Legion Kelley-Porter Post 70 will join with members of the Gordon WEston Post in a meeting on Monday, January 14 at 7 pm at the Veterans Center in Flandreau. All veterans are welcome to join.


Class for English learners is Wednesday
Fajitas will be holding English learning classes on Wednesday at 7 p.m. No registration is necessary, just come to the restaurant to learn.


County Republicans to hold organizational meeting Jan. 19
The Moody County Republican Praty will hold their organizational meeting at noon, Saturday, January 19 at John’s Place, 102 E. 2nd Ave., Flandreau.
The County Central Committee members shall meet to form their party organization by electing officers. A majority vote of the County Central Committee members present shall constitute an election.

4-H Sucker Sales Time again!

The Moody County Happy Youngsters 4-H Club will be selling homemade suckers at the Flandreau doubleheader basketball game on Friday, January 18th in Flandreau and at the Colman-Egan basketball games on January 24th and 25th in Colman.
The cost is 2 suckers for $1.00.  All proceeds from this fundraiser will be put towards purchasing a statue and helping install the statue and landscaping for the new Veterans Memorial in the city of Colman.


Doyle Bridge still closed
The Doyle Bridge on 483rd Ave. from 227th St. to 228th St. is still closed until further notice.


Flandreau City offers budget bill paying
Budget Billing is a free service available to City of Flandreau residential customers. Qualifying customers have the option to utilize a budget (flat) payment plan for monthly utility bills. It spreads the payments out more evenly over a 12-month period. Contact the City Office or download from website www.cityofflandreau.com.

Reminder:
Flandreau recycle
Flandreau City residents are invited and encouraged to voluntarily recycle. There is a dumpster located east of Flandreau City Office. The items listed below can be comingled in the dumpster.
Residents can also do curbside recycling which is picked up the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. Call the City office at 997-2492 to register and be placed on the route.
Items that can be recycled include:

Plastics 1 & 2 - Hard plastics with a 1 or 2 only. Please check your plastics; some common items are marked with a 4 such as lids for items.  Items must be clean.
Newspapers and Magazines - Must be dry.
Cardboard (corrugated and cereal box type) - Clean and dry.
Not Accepted:
~ pizza boxes of any kind (clean or used)
~ GLASS
~ Plastic Bags unless many are bagged tightly together in one bag.


Transit rides available
Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership (ICAP) / Moody County Transit is a public transit system and offers rides to all ages for local activities and appointments, including school programs, day care, medical appointments, shopping, and employment. Cost is $2.00 per one-way ride in-town.  There is no fare required for 60 and over, but a donation is appreciated. To schedule a ride call 864-1499 24 hrs. in advance.
Moody County Transit serves the Flandreau area and runs Monday through Friday during the school year from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
A round trip ride to Sioux Falls or Brookings for $10.00 may be scheduled for a Wednesday when there are enough riders.  To schedule a ride call 864-1499 24 hrs. in advance.
