New Veterinary Service in Colman

Dr. Aidan McNeil and her husband, Jeff Clark, together opened Colman Veterinary Services south of town on November 15. They have a mobile unit they plan to use as well to offer access to care for more rural communities with no direct local care provider.

A new veterinary care team has recently moved to Colman and will be serving Moody County and the surrounding areas with a new stand-alone location as well as a mobile care unit.
Dr. Aidan McNeil is a University of California at Davis graduate and brings more than 20 years of veterinary experience to her new Colman location. She most recently had been living in and serving the Custer community but she told the Moody County Enterprise that she wanted to provide care to a community that wasn’t quite as seasonal.
“We chose Colman because we wanted to work in a rural area with people who, like us, have a strong work ethic and care deeply about their land and their animals. We love being surrounded by farms but we still have the amenities offered a short drive away in Brookings and Sioux Falls,” said McNeil.
McNeil, along with her husband, Jeff Clark, plan to offer state-of-the-art diagnostic, medical and surgical techniques for rural practice as well as portable battery-powered ultrasound and radiology equipment for on-site care. McNeil also emphasizes she hopes to provide wellness care, diagnostics, medical, surgical, and in-home euthanasia services for horses, livestock, household pets, exotic pets and wildlife. McNeil moved to South Dakota after marrying Clark. He plans to serve as the manager for the practice.
“I see all animals including reptiles, horses and other farm animals including the odd ones like alpacas, chickens, potbelly pigs. I took extra training in exotic pets, wildlife, ophthalmology, emergency/critical care, acupuncture, and neurology,” said McNeil.
She plans to offer 30 minute or longer appointments so that she might not only fully treat any animal as best possible, but also communicate with owners.
“We are on a team that includes the owner of the pet. We can be booked to bring our mobile trailer clinic to any community for an entire day so even the smallest rural communities can have a Veterinary Clinic in their town.”
