New signage in town

Posted

The City of Flandreau recently purchased a mobile electronic radar speed sign to help remind traffic coming into town, or anywhere else that it may be needed, to slow down. The investment was made this past year after local business owners approached city officials about a more welcoming entrance into town, no matter what direction locals and visitors alike may be coming from. The City Council voted to approve trying one machine to see how and if it might work. The signs allow for a flashing message and are hard to miss.
The machines can capture data about average speeds, numbers of cars and other details that would be helpful in telling the police department where patrols may be most effective. Should feedback be positive, council members this past year stated they would consider adding additional and perhaps stationary signs on Highway 13, south of the Royal River Casino and at the west entrance of town on Highway 32.
