Amundson, Lonald Lloyd, age 84, of Eagan, MN, died peacefully surrounded by family on January 5, 2021.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Audrey, 3 daughters, Lori Rathburn (Jim), Lisa Amundson and Stacy Crawford (Gary).  Adored by his 5 grandchildren Callie (Tim) Possehl, Caitlin (Sam) Van Hefty, Sonja Burke, Sean Rathburn and Collin Crawford and great-grandchild, Liam Van Hefty, his sister, Ona Kay Galles, and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Verena Amundson and his brother Keith Amundson.
Lon grew up in Ward, SD where he learned to play baseball.  He attended Flandreau High School graduating in 1954.  While in high school Lon played baseball on the 1952 American Legion team that won the State Class B Baseball Tournament.
Lon married Audrey Armstrong in 1957 at St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church. Lon graduated from South Dakota State University in Mechanical Engineering. He was hired by IBM in Rochester, MN where he worked for 35 years.  He and Audrey raised their 3 daughters in Rochester, and they remained there until 2011 when they moved to Eagan, MN to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Lon enjoyed coaching youth football, playing golf, pheasant hunting as well as watching the Twins, Vikings and Gophers.  Lon and Audrey traveled extensively with family and friends throughout the United States and abroad.  He loved his family, friends and life. He will be missed.
A Funeral Service was held for Lonald at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Eagan, Minnesota.
