Local All-State Band Members

These area students have all been selected to an All-State Band which will have upcoming concerts soon.

Left, Colman-Egan’s Allison Olson has been selected to participate in the 2019 South Dakota High School All-State Band. Hundreds of musicians from across the state participated in live auditions throughout the month of January. Allison is one of 19 flutes chosen to participate in the three-day event to be held in March. This will be her second year as a High School All-State Band member.  Olson was also chosen to play piccolo in the South Dakota All State Orchestra which met in October.

Middle and right, Flandreau 6th grader Ben Kulm and Colman-Egan 7th grader Jenna Olson have been accepted into the South Dakota Middle School All State Band.  Jenna and Ben, along with 434 other musicians from 80 different schools across the state, submitted auditions in December 2018.  Jenna, attending her second All-State Band, will be seated as the 4th chair French Horn. Ben, a tuba player, will attending his first All-State Band. He had the 4th highest score in the state among 6th, 7th and 8th grade tuba players seating him fourth chair tuba. They both will be attending the two-day event in Huron March 1-2, 2019.
