Kevin L. McMahon, 62, of Flandreau, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Flandreau, SD.

Kevin Lee was born in Sioux Falls, SD, on September 18, 1956 to Calvin and Sylvia (Blair) Hammack. He never met or knew his birth father but was adopted at an early age by George McMahon who loved and raised him along with Sylvia. Kevin lived in Hartford then moved to Colman while in Jr. High School. He graduated from Colman High School in 1974.

He worked at Skellys and T & R Electric before moving to Texas in 1981.  Kevin married the love of his life, Monica Miles, November 24, 1984.  Together, Kevin and Monica made their home in Grapevine, Texas. He worked at Lady Love Cosmetics and AMF/Control Systems International. Both daughters, Kendra and Kayla, were born in Texas. In 1995 Kevin and Monica returned to South Dakota to raise their daughters, purchasing and renovating the late 1800’s home that had been homesteaded by Monica’s great grandparents.  Kevin and Monica moved into Flandreau 4 years ago.

Kevin worked at Gateway Computers, Daktronics, and returning to T&R Electric as an electrician wiring control panels for their substation division.  He had recently reduced his work hours for a semi-retired status.  Kevin’s hobbies and pastimes included softball most of his life. He hung the glove up at age 56 but continued to support his grandchildren at their baseball, basketball and football games. Kevin was a God-fearing man who faithfully led his family spiritually and also knew how to play with his grandchildren. His love for Jesus was easily shared with others and he will be remembered for His ability to openly talk about Jesus. He enjoyed camping, riding his scooter and spending time with family and friends. Kevin was a patriot at heart and loved his country.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 34 years: Monica; his daughters, Kendra (Jeremy) Eng of Flandreau and Kayla (Jim) Wynia of Harrisburg; five grandchildren: Jadon, Jaila, Jael, Emmett, and Hattie; his brothers: Kelly of Colman and a recently discovered brother Rodney (Darsi) Hammack of Salem, Missouri and his sister: Teresa Hammack of Rolla, Missouri. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents.
