Kenneth W. Klitzke, formerly of Flandreau , passed away November 23, 2018 after a short illness.
He was born in Lynwood, CA to Kermit and Hope (Bennett) Klitzke on January 26, 1949. He moved with his parents, brother and sister to the family farm northwest of Flandreau in 1952 after the death of his grandfather. Ken attended grade school at Fletcher Country School about a mile and a half from his home. He was always busy. He had a go-cart that the chickens were terrified of-for good reason. He always had a special love for cats and had many named “Snertz” through the years as a child. A pony named Scamper was a favorite of his. Almost every attempt to ride Scamper to school, keep him there and then ride him home, ended with the pony getting loose during the day and going home without him.  At Flandreau High he played football and wrestled. He went to state in wrestling his senior year. After graduation in 1967 he went to meat cutting school in Pipestone, MN, which helped him finance his way through chiropractic school at Baylor University in Texas. He married Regina Roll, of Norfolk, NE and they had two children, Kamille and Kenneth. He practiced chiropractics in Oklahoma, Colorado and Michigan. He was an accomplished wood worker and did this as a hobby. Snow skiing was a special activity he loved. He retired in Michigan by a small lake and with his special friend, Lou Ann Dake, he did some traveling which he enjoyed. He is remembered as generous, kind and fun loving; always with a smile on his face.
Ken is survived by his daughter: Kamille (Scott) Alm; his son: Kenneth (Melanie); his step-daughter Kell Angeles; four grandchildren: Austin and Aeryn Alm, Boston and Nixon Klitzke; his brother: Kermit (LuBertha); his sister: Karel (Dave) Dunbar, his special friend: Lou Ann Dake, and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, infant brother, and grandparents. We are grateful for having shared our lives with him and his is greatly missed.
Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, with burial in Union Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation will be one hour preceding the funeral service.
