COLMAN – The Hawks limited Estelline/Hendricks to four points in both the first and third quarters and then held on for a 36-32 Dakota Valley Conference win over the Redhawks on Friday night.
Colman-Egan led 9-4 after eight minutes; 16-14 at halftime; and 24-18 through three as the Hawks improved to 7-6 overall and 4-1 in the DVC.
Katie Hannasch led a balanced CE attack with 10 points, to go along with a pair of steals.
Mackenzie Hemmer added nine points while Madison Voelker contributed eight points, six rebounds and two takeaways.
Braiden Westley chipped in with five points, three dimes and two steals as Kennedi Landis hit a 3-pointer and Olivia Baumberger went 1-of-2 from the foul line to finish off the Hawks’ scoring.
Tiffany Vohlken missed just two shots on the night as she netted 10 points on a 3-for-4 effort from the field, to go along with a 4-of-5 performance from the charity stripe for the Redhawks, who dropped to 11-3 on the season and 3-3 in conference play.
Kylie Beare added eight points, a steal and a dime while Sophie Johnson scored five points, pulled down eight rebounds and blocked one shot.
Kaylee Johnson chipped in with four points, Tasha Vohlken three and Abby Satterlee two.
HOWARD – Colman-Egan defeated Howard 64-57 in a nonconference girls’ basketball game Tuesday, Jan. 22.
The Hawks led 15-13 after a quarter before pushing the advantage to 35-17 at halftime. They were up 51-39 heading to the fourth.
Katie Hannasch led four players in double players in double figures with 18 points. Madison Voelker added 12 points and Braiden Westley and Olivia Baumberger both contributed 10.
Westley came up with four steals. Baumberger and Mackenzie Hemmer both grabbed five rebounds.
The Tigers’ Hilary Albrecht finished with 21 points, nine boards and six steals. Kate Connor added 12 markers and eight rebounds.
On Tuesday, the Redhawks travel to Waverly-South Shore while the Hawks head to Castlewood.
