EMERY – The Colman-Egan Hawks made their bid for state as they took part in the SDHSAA Region 3B Track & Field Meet on Wednesday afternoon.
The top 24 times, jumps and throws from all regional meets will be used to determine who will advance to the SDHSAA State Championship Meet, which will take place in Sioux Falls from May 25 to 27.
Both the Hawk boys and girls won Region 3B championships. The top 24 in each event in Class B advance to the State Meet.
GIRLS
Daniela Lee picked up a pair of first-place finishes for the Hawks, finishing first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.59 seconds and in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.10 seconds.
Lanie Mousel also picked up a pair of first-place finishes, finishing first in the long jump at 15-03.25 and the triple jump at 32-00.00.
Other first-place finishes included Josie Mousel in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.52 seconds, Reese Luze in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:23.78 and Elaina Rhode in the 100 meter dash with a time of 17.41 seconds.
The Hawks also earned four first-place finishes in relay events. The 4x100 meter relay team of Lanie Mousel, Elaina Rhode, Abby Rhode and Daniela Lee finished in 52.25 seconds, the 4x200 meter relay team of Lanie Mousel, Crystal Silva-Dominguez, Brynlee Landis and Daniela Lee finished with a time of 1:50.48, the 4x400 meter relay team of Finley Luze, Brynlee Landis, Josie Mousel and Reese Luze finished with a time of 4:20.60 and the 4x800 meter relay of Presley Luze, Anya Hemmer, Finley Luze and Reese Luze finished with a time of 10:48.97.
The Hawks had two second-place finishes as Brynlee Landis had a time of 2:28.25 in the 800 meter dash and Josie Mousel finished second in the high jump at 4-08.00.
The Hawks had six third-place finishes including two from Izzie Lee. Lee finished third in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:26.59 and third in the 3200 meter run with a time of 14:20.54.
Other third-place finishes in individual events included Michoen Williamson in the shot put (31-08.25), Brynlee Landis in the long jump (14-05.50) and Quinn Meyer and Elaina Rhode in the high jump (4-06.00).
Fourth-place finishes included Quinn Meyer in the 100 meter hurdles (19.03 seconds), Anya Hemmer in the 300 meter hurdles (52.79 seconds), Anna Zwart in the shot put (31-01.50) and Grace Quick in the long jump (14-00.00).
Fifth-place finishes included Finley Luze with a time of 1:04.64 in the 400 meter dash, Anya Hemmer with a time of 16:07.66 in the 3200 meter run and Abby Rhode with a 28-04.50 triple jump.
BOYS
The Hawks made a strong bid to advance in the relay events as they picked up three first-place finishes at the regional event. Jase Mousel, Ben Zwart, Jack Mousel and Christopher Lee earned two first place finishes, posting a time of 45.60 seconds in the 4x100 meter relay and a time of 1:33.23 in the 4x400 meter relay.
Jack Mousel also finished in first place in the high jump at 6-02.00 and Jase Mousel finished first in the triple jump at 40-03.50.
