Hawks, Flier volleyball seasons close out in Region play

MADISON – Chester Area defeated Colman-Egan 25-17, 25-23, 29-27 in the Region 4B volleyball semifinals Thursday night.
For the Hawks, Mackenzie Hemmer totaled eight kills, 10 blocks and 11 dogs. Braiden Westley contributed four kills.
Kennedi Landis (six) and Jordan Wittrock (five) combined for 11 set assists. Olivia Baumberger had seven blocks and an ace. Elizabeth Moore added 13 digs and an ace.
Colman-Egan finished with a 22-9 record.
Makenna Larson led the Flyers with 13 kills and 29 digs.
Jayda Kenyon added seven kills, three ace serves and a block. Ella Pry tallied seven kills and a block.
Kenna Brown dished out 30 set assists and netted a pair of aces. Bri Backus came up with 27 digs and Karly Campbell chipped in with 16.  Hailey Bleeker recorded two blocks.

First Round
MADISON – Colman-Egan beat Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 19-25, 25-15, 25-8, 25-14 in a Region 4B quarterfinal Tuesday.
Braiden Westley led the Hawks with 10 kills, eight blocks, three ace serves and 11 digs.
Mackenzie Hemmer added eight kills and seven blocks.
Olivia Baumberger totaled seven kills, six blocks, an ace and eight digs. Elizabeth Moore also tallied seven kills to go with 15 digs.
Jordan Wittrock (18) and Kennedi Landis (9) combined for 27 set assists. Wittrock added a pair of aces.


Flandreau

HAMLIN – Hamlin beat Flandreau 23-25, 25-17, 25-12, 25-17 in a Region 2A semifinal Thursday to advance to the SoDak 16.
Shalyn Peters had 19 digs and 15 assists for the Fliers. Hannah Parsley had 15 digs, 14 kills and two blocks. Shalyn Peters had 15 assists and Madison Kontz had 17 digs. Macy Kneebone had nine assists.
Flandreau finished the season with a 6-22 record.
For the Chargers (18-9), Ashtyn Abraham had 30 digs and 10 kills. Ally Abraham had 10 kills and Taylor Koisti had 31 digs. Logan Keszler had 20 assists and Grace Everson had 14. Zoey Ruutsalainen had four aces.

First Round
DEUEL – The Fliers topped the Cardinals 25-23, 25-22, 23-25, 25-18 to advance to the semifinals of the Region 2A Playoffs.
Hannah Parsley led Flandreau with 12 kills and 17 digs. Mia Parsley had 10 kills and 16 digs. Madison Kontz had 17 digs and Kennedy Peper had seven kills. Shalyn Peters and Macy Kneebone each had 20 assists.
The Fliers had 97 digs as a team and the Cardinals had 76. They also had 13 more kills than the Cardinals.
Twyla Rossow 15 digs and eight kills for Deuel. Haley Winter and Harley Hennings each had nine kills. Rachel Cutshaw and Saycia Sime each had 13 digs.
