Hawks, Flier both at Beresford meet before holiday break

BERESFORD – The host Watchdogs swept the team titles at their home invitational on Tuesday.
Beresford put up 102 points on the boys’ side to outdistance Brookings (78) and Tri-Valley (70) as Colman-Egan placed seventh (44) and Flandreau scored 10 points for 12th.
Beresford scored 116 points on the girls’ side to edge Brookings (78). Colman-Egan was fifth with 60 while Flandreau notched 52 for sixth.

Girls’ Division
The Flandreau quartet of Madie Hursey, Libby Hursey, Reese Olinger and Hannah Parsley opened the meet with a fifth-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay as they crossed in 10 minutes, 54.33 seconds.
Mackenzie Hemmer of Colman-Egan finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.23 seconds, to go along with a fifth-place finish in the 300 hurdles in 51.29.
In the 100, the Fliers’ Ashtyn Bertram (13.03) placed third in 13.03 seconds as the Hawks’ Olivia Baumberger finished fifth in 13.57. Bertram added a second-place finish in the 200 in 26.55 – a state-qualifying time – as Colman-Egan’s Josie Mousel was third in 26.58.
The Fliers won the 4x200 relay as Bella Pavlis, Parsley, Cassidy Keith and Ashtyn Bertram teamed up for a time of 1:51.65 to edge the Hawks, who finished second in 1:52.04. Flandreau missed a qualifying mark by 1.65 seconds.
Madie Hursey placed fifth in the 1,600 in 5:58.81 as Libby Hursey finshed seventh in 6:04.24.
Colman-Egan placed second in the 4x100 in 52.4 seconds
Berkley Groos crossed in 1:08.43 for eighth in the open 400.

Flandreau’s Pavlis, Keith, Parsley and Maria Parsley ran a 4:57.01 for a fourth-place finish in the sprint medley.
Reese Luze of Colman-Egan placed third in the 800 with a time of 2:36.46.
Madie Hursey placed third in the 3,200 in 13:10.02
The Flier quartet of Pavlis, Bertram, Keith and Hannah Parsley placed fourth in the 4x400 in a time of 4:33.17 while Colman-Egan finished seventh in 4:52.74.
In the field event, Baumberger won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, six inches.
Flandreau’s Elle Thompson place second in the discus with a throw of 113, 4 1/2 – just five feet from an automatic state-qualifying mark.
Mousel won the high jump after clearing 5 feet as the Fliers’ Malina Matthys placed fifth (4-4).

Boys’ Division
Colman-Egan’s Ryan Voelker posted a second-place finish in the 110 hurdles in 16.92 and a fourth-place finish in the 300 hurdles in 44.97 seconds as the Hawks finished seventh in the team standings with 44 points.
Flandreau’s Tristan Bietz placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 18-9 1/2.
Nate Tolley of Colman-Egan placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 37 feet, 3 inches.
Voelker won the shot with a put of 45-9 1/4 as Alec Landis placed third for the Hawks with a heave of 43-8 1/4.
In the discus, Landis (136-0) and Voelker (126-1) placed second and third, respectively.
The Fliers’ Austin Kulm finished fifth in his first 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:39.95.
Flandreau’s medley squad of Bradon Weber, Bietz, Lars Dailey and David Allen placed fourth in 4:08.72 while the 4x400 was eighth in 4:03.08.
The Fliers’ 4x800 quartet of Gabe Hobbie, Kulm, Chris Boetger and Joe Kohl finished fifth in 9:29.52.
Colman-Egan placed seventh in the 4x100 relay in 47.86 and eighth in the 4x200 in 1:40.05.
