Hawk Girls take third at State B track meet

SIOUX FALLS – Colman-Egan eighth-grader Josie Mousel successfully defended her title in the high jump and also anchored the winning 4x100-meter relay team, while sophomore Olivia Baumberger picked up an event win as well as the youthful Hawks placed third in the team standings at the Class B State Track and Field Meet at Howard Wood Field.
 
Girls
Mousel cleared 5 feet, 4 inches – an inch higher than her winning leap a year ago – to again claim the high jump crown.
Baumberger won the long jump with a mark of 16 feet, 10 inches.
Baumberger, sophomore Elizabeth Moore, seventh-grader Daniela Lee and Mousel crossed first in the 4x100 in 51.5 seconds.

Baumberger, Moore, freshman Mackenzie Hemmer and Mousel finished second in the 4x200 with a 1:49.12 clocking.
Mousel added a fifth-place finish in the 200 in 26.56.
Hemmer ended up fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.83), fifth in the triple jump (33-11) and seventh in the 300 hurdles (49.33).
Deubrook Area won the team title with 76 points and Ipswich was second at 67.
 
Boys
The Hawks earned five team points, tying for 35th.
Alec Landis placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 146 feet, 10 inches.
Dalton Voelker (shot put; 49-10) and Ryan Voelker (300-meter hurdles; 43.03 seconds) both posted eighth-place finishes.
