Hawk girls take 10 point loss
COLMAN – Canistota built a 32-13 halftime lead en route 59-49 nonconference win over Colman-Egan in the girls’ basketball battle of the Hawks on Tuesday night.
The visitors doubled up Colman-Egan, 16-8, after the first 8 minutes on the way to the 19-point halftime lead before the home Hawks rallied in the second half.
Mackenzie Hemmer finished with 20 points to lead the hosts, while Braiden Westley added 13.
Jordan Engbrecht scored a game-high 31 points for Canistota, as the Hawks shots 54 percent from the field (21-of-39), including 7-of-15 from 3-point range.

Hawk boys pick up first win

COLMAN – The Hawks outscored Garretson, 13-12, in the fourth quarter to pull out a 47-46 nonconference boys’ basketball win over the Blue Dragons on Thursday night.
“The boys played very unselfish and worked hard on every possession to get after loose balls and rebounds. This was a good win for us to get against a class A opponent,” said Head Coach Scott Hemmer.
Colman-Egan led 7-5 after a quarter and 23-20 at halftime before the Blue Dragons rallied to tie it up at 34-34 through three.
Dalton Voelker posted a double-double with game highs of 22 points and 12 rebounds as Colman-Egan evened its record at 1-1. Nate Tolley and Ty Hiller added nine and eight points, respectively.
Drew Blosmo’s 17 points led Garretson, which dropped to 1-3 overall. Trevor Fiegen contributed a double-double of 15 points and 10 boards.

Hawk boys hang on for 6 point win over Warriors

CASTLEWOOD – Colman-Egan held a 35-23 halftime lead and went on to defeat Castlewood 67-61 in boys basketball on Friday.

Dalton Voelker posted a double-double with 31 points and 13 rebounds to lead Colman-Egan (2-1 season). The game was tied at 45 after three quarters.
(This was) Another exciting game to be in,” said Head Coach Scott Hemmer. “The boys worked hard for the whole game and executed when they needed to.  It was good to see us get a big win the night after an emotional win.”
Chase Hemmer added 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists and Nate Tolley scored 11 points.
Colman-Egan shot 23-of-47 from the field for 49 percent which included 6-of-12 from 3-point land.
Castlewood (1-2 overall) got 19 points, nine rebounds and four steals from Kaden Eng.
Brandon Benike scored 14 points and Noah Wiersma tallied 11 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and four steals for the Warriors.
Castlewood shot 20-59 for 34 percent.
