Gwenithe J. (Gwenie) Jurgens, 75, of Rapid City,  formerly of Flandreau, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Monument Health Hospice House in Rapid City, after suffering from a stroke a week prior.
Gwenith JoAnn was born August 1, 1944 to Melvin and Mercedes (Sagness) Moller in Dell Rapids, SD.  She attended Egan Public School and graduated in 1962.  Gwen married Butch (Merlyn) Jurgens on June 27, 1963 in Pipestone, MN. Gwen and Butch lived in Minneapolis, Bloomington, Hopkins, and St. Louis Park, MN; Ward and Flandreau, SD; Wayzata and Minnetonka, MN; and back to Flandreau in 1982.  Gwen worked in administration at the Flandreau Hospital, Wayzata and Flandreau School Districts. She enjoyed working with Butch at their snowmobile shop in Norwood, MN, and later at Jurgens Power Systems Polaris Country in Flandreau.  Butch and Gwen owned many semis throughout the years. She eventually joined him in their Peterbuilt and they became a driving team traveling across the country from Los Angeles to Minneapolis weekly.  She also enjoyed snowmobiling, spending time on the lake in their boats, dancing, and keeping a pristine home.  After selling their beautiful home in Flandreau, they bought a motor home to travel and see the sites that they missed while driving their semi.  They were able to visit relatives and winter in the South.  They became work-campers in Alabama, Wall, and eventually landed in Sturgis.  While there Gwen was employed by Black Hills Gold and Rally as a full-time seasonal employee. She worked at the Sturgis Rally for many years, loving her job along with her fellow co-workers while making many new friends.  After her retirement she moved to Rapid City in 2016.  Not only did the “Little Lady” live in the motorhome in Sturgis after the passing of Butch, but she drove it alone a few seasons to winter in Georgia.
Gwen is survived by her two daughters: Kelly Jo Blum, Madison and Kimberly Ann (Kevin) Hemmer, Peachtree City, GA;  eight grandchildren: Ashley Headrick, Flandreau, Brittany (Michael) Edwards, Mableton, GA, Kelsey (Matt) McKie, Rapid City, Bethany (Aaron) Thielsen, Flandreau, Briana Hemmer, Fayetteville, GA, Leighton Blum, Flandreau, Dawson (Fiancé Shaina DeRuyter), Flandreau and Macey Blum, Brookings;  11 great grandchildren: Tathan, Karter, and Ryker, Riley, Maddox, Kora,  Lucy, Blake, Rory, Noelle and Kaylee;  her sister: Marlene Westover, Isle, MN; her brother: Lou (Shelia) Moller, Ramsey, MN; two sisters-in-law, Sharryl Moller, Trent and Deloris Bruemmer, Red Wing, MN; her brother-in-law: Marvin (Rita) Jurgens, Chanhassen, MN; along with many nephews and nieces.
Gwen is preceded in death by her husband, infant son, Douglas, her parents, brother, Loren Moller; and other extended family members.
Funeral services will be held in Flandreau at a later date, along with burial for Butch and Gwen at the Elkton Cemetery, Elkton.
