Group plans to walk town

Posted

A group of volunteers will walk three Flandreau neighborhoods April 24 to figure out if there are ways the areas could be improved to encourage more outdoor activity.

The walking survey is part of the Healthy Hometown project that Flandreau is doing to improve three areas: retail food choices, outdoor activity and a more beautiful, vibrant downtown.

The group will walk about 1.3 miles total looking at the downtown area, Pipestone Avenue near the West End Plaza and streets near the public school. The tour will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., including time spent reviewing what they discovered.

Anyone interested in participating can contact the Flandreau Development Corporation at Flandreaudev@gmail.com.
