Get ready for a Holiday Parade

Final preparations are underway for the big holiday celebrations taking place in Flandreau this holiday weekend. Volunteer crews have been making the most of the warmer fall weather to get lights up early along with other decorations at the Courthouse and throughout the downtown. More businesses are also working together to offer something for everyone throughout the entire day on this Small Business Saturday.
Downtown and other businesses throughout the community will be offering goodies throughout the day. The movie ‘Home Alone’ will be shown at the Crystal Theater, free of charge thanks to some generous donors, starting at 4:00 p.m. The line-up for the parade starts south of the Courthouse at 5:30 p.m. The parade begins at 6:00 p.m. and currently, we’re told there are upwards of 22 entries, local attorney and City Council member Bob Pesall will emcee the parade in the downtown area. A Tree Lighting ceremony along with caroling and inside tree viewing will take place following the parade at the Courthouse.
For anyone wanting to still get an entry into the parade, you’re asked to call Kim Hansen at 605-864-1720 or email her at [email protected] by Wednesday, November 24th. Awards will be given out to one entry in each of the following categories: Family, Business, Organization.
