Girls Top Garretson

GARRETSON – “A number of players stepped up when things weren’t going well initially,” said Coach Megan Severtson about the January 11 win over Garretson.
“It had been 12 days since our last game, so I knew we would be a little rusty to start the game. I thought the girls responded well to adversity and we had a big run in the second quarter that allowed us to relax and play freely.” Final score was 55-29.
Claire Sheppard scored 23, Maria Parsley 15 and Bella Pavlis, 13. Lily Klein made 14 rebounds.
The JV team also won, 33-22 behind 14 points from Faith Wiese, Abby Schoeberl’s six and Olivia Peters’ five points.

Tash Lunday led Flandreau with 22 points and eight rebounds as the Fliers earned a solid road win at Madison on Thursday night, 54-40.

Aiden Jensen led the Bulldogs with 13 points with Aspen Dahl adding nine and Nate Ricke scoring eight.
“We played a nice game offensively,” said Coach Brendan Sheppard.
“We just didn’t shoot well or finish around the rim. The shots we took were good.”
“Defensively we were excellent again,” he noted saying if a team can hold another team to 40 points, “It puts you in a good position to win games.”
Flandreau shot 48 percent (20-of-42) for the game, including 6-of-16 from long range, while the Bulldogs shot just 31 percent (15-of-48) and 3-of-13 from deep.
The Fliers were 8-of-12 at the line, while Madison was 7-of-11.

“Madison is a good team who has played a tough schedule. This was a good win for the Fliers.”
