Fliers at Brace-Hopfinger Invite

VOLGA – The Flandreau girls took seventh and the boys were eighth at the Brace-Hopfinger Relays on Tuesday.

Girls

Deubrook Area and Hamlin tied for top team honors with 122 points apiece, and Dell Rapids (115) was second.

Flandreau totaled 53.5 points in seventh.

The Fliers had a trio of second-place finishes.

Elizabeth Hursey was runner-up in the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 44.8 seconds. She added a fifth-place showing in the 1,600 with a 5:59.4 clocking.

Ashtyn Bertram placed second in the 100 in 13.8 seconds.

Madeline Hursey took second in the 1,600 with a time of 5:51.1.

Flandreau came in in third in the sprint medley relay in 4:47.

Cassidy Keith ended up fourth in the 400 (1:08.6) and fifth in the 200 (29.8).

Kylie Bertram finished in a tie for fifth in the 100 (14.1) and sixth in the long jump (14 feet, 1 inch).

Mara Lunday was sixth in the 400 (1:10.3) and eighth in the 800 (2:55.5).

Boys

Dell Rapids won all five relays and cruised to the team title with 191.5 points. Castlewood (99) was second and host Sioux Valley (96) third.

Flandreau tallied 35 points for eighth place.

The Fliers’ Dalyn Bakkedahl placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 40-11 1/4 and seventh in the long jump with a leap of 18-2 1/2.

Luke Behrens was third in the 400 with a 56.5-second clocking and eighth in the 200 in 25.4.

Ben Hobbie crossed in third in the 1,600 in 5:19.1.

Gabe Bird took fifth in the 1,600 (5:25.4) and sixth in the 800 (2:24.1).

Mario Bonilla ended up eighth in the 1,600 (5:30.2). Trevor Hahn placed ninth in the 400 (1:00.6) and Lars Dailey matched that finish in the 800 (2:27.2).

Flandreau was sixth in the 4x200 (1:43.6) and eighth in the 4x100 (50.1).
