MITCHELL – Parkston beat Flandreau 54-45 in the Hanson Classic on Saturday afternoon at the Corn Palace.
The Fliers led 11-4 after a quarter, 26-20 at halftime and 34-33 through three before the Trojans rallied.
Parkston’s Allison Ziebart (21) and Emma Yost (19) combined for 40 points. Ziebart was 13-of-14 at the free-throw line, while Yost grabbed nine rebounds.
Flandreau shot 40.5 percent (15-of-37) but turned the ball over 24 times.
Claire Sheppard had 12 points before fouling out. Bella Pavlis added 10 points.
The Fliers’ record dropped to 3-4 as they’ve lost all three games played since the holiday break ended. This week, they were to head to Clear Lake with the boys’ team to face Deuel on Tuesday and then host McCook Central/Montrose on Friday, also a double header. Saturday, both teams head to Parker with a 2 p.m. start time.
