Flier football downed by McM


SALEM – McCook Central/Montrose defeated Flandreau 64-12 in a football game Friday.
The Fighting Cougars held a 429-138 advantage in total yards of offense.
“We started off the year against a very tough MCM team. We did a lot of good things early in the game and competed very well,” said Flier coach Derek Genzlinger.
Flier junior quarterback Tanner Christenson was 6-of-15 for 104 yards with a pair of touchdown tosses.
Tash Lunday racked up 98 yards on five receptions, hauling in the Fliers’ two touchdowns.
Lane Johanson (20) and Ethan Hoffman (14) combined for 34 rushing yards.
Chase Reed paced the defense with 10 tackles, including a sack. Lane Johanson made six stops. Half of Braden Peters’ had two sacks from his four tackles.
“We need to continue to improve on all phases of the game as we take on a very talented Dell Rapids team next week.” The Fliers host the Quarriers Friday at 7 p.m.
