Work has started on a renovated front office area at Flandreau High School, a project that will allow staff and administrators to see who is coming in the front door. A crew with Ronning Enterprises of Sioux Falls is working on the $182,500 project.
When completed, there will be two windows and a doorway that look out into the front lobby. Windows will be installed where the block area is cut out and bricks are visible. Offices for the school’s administrative assistant and the school resource officer will be located in that area, and visitors will need to stop inside the office when arriving at the front door. The high school principal also will have an office in the renovated area, as will the director of special education.
(For any “oldertimers” who may wonder what rooms used to be in the photo at left, the former nurse’s room was on the right hand side and the guidance counselor’s room on the left.)
