Flandreau battles with Castlewood in close contests

FLANDREAU – Castlewood edged the Fliers 51-50 in a Lake Central Conference boys’ basketball matchup Tuesday.
Noah Wietsma led a balanced Warrior scoring attack with 14 points, Brandon Benike added 12, Kaden Eng nine and Garret Kerkvliet seven.
Flandreau’s Tash Lunday finished with 17 points and nine rebounds.
Nate Kneebone posted a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards. Connor LeBrun had seven points and six assists, while Taryn Ukestine chipped in with six points and four rebounds.
Flandreau (1-3, 0-1) faces Hamlin at 4:30 p.m. in the Entringer Classic on Saturday, Dec. 29, at Brookings High School.

Girls
FLANDREAU – The Fliers beat Castlewood 59-46 in a Lake Central Conference girls’ basketball game Tuesday night.
Ashtyn Bertram dropped in a game-high 21 points for Flandreau.
Hannah Parsley totaled 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
The Warriors got a double-double of 20 points and 16 boards from Alayna Benike. Cala Hunter chipped in with 13 markers.
Flandreau (3-2, 1-1) plays host to Dell Rapids on Friday, Dec. 28.
