Flandreau and Colman-Egan runners compete at MCM invite
McCOOK – The Flandreau Fliers took part in the McCook Central/Montrose Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday afternoon as the boys finished in first place and the girls finished in second place.
After competing in the Augustana Twilight Cross Country Meet on Friday the Fliers will compete at the Jesse James Cross Country Meet in Garretson on Sept. 5. Results of the Augie meet were unable to meet the early Enterprise deadline.
BOYS
The Fliers finished first at the invitational with a team total of 43 points. Baltic finished in second place with 88 points, Parker finished third with 118 points and McCook Central/Montrose finished fourth with 160 points.
Brenton Westberry finished eighth for the Fliers with a time of 19:18.33 while Tanner Reed finished 14th with a time of 20:00.23. After that, it was a string of Flandreau runners finishing back-to-back as Matthew Gassman finished 16th with a time of 20:14.29, Kenton James finished 17th with a time of 20:17.18, Logan Kontz finishing 18th with a time of 20:17.47 and Wyatt Kontz finishing 19th with a time of 20:18.55.
Nathaniel Hobbie finished 34th with a time of 20:56.15 and Lanz Dailey finished 48th with a time of 22:11.71.
GIRLS
The Fliers finished in second place out of the three-team field with a total of 59 points. Chamberlain finished in first place with 46 points and Howard finished third with 126 points.
Faith Wiese finished in second place with a time of 19:48.88 while Diamond Roy finished ninth with a time of 21:40.48 and Kiley Westberry finished 10th with a time of 21:55.99. Josie Hamilton also finished 13th with a time of 22:37.38 and Hailey Lahr finished 46th with a time of 29:23.20.
The Colman-Egan team was represented by Any Hemmer coming in 31st with a time of 24:53.55 and Izzie Lee at 40th with a time of 27:01.97. They do not have a team score.
