Farmer’s Market: Two remain

Posted

It may be in Flandreau on the County Courthouse lawn but the organizers of the Flandreau Farmer’s Market want everyone in Moody County to know that they are invited not only to this week’s market but especially, the season finale scheduled for September 22nd from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Horse carriage rides are planned for the event along with face painting, a photo booth, food trucks, and a growing number of vendors. This past week 19 vendors had their tables lined up along the eastern edge of the courthouse lawn.
“We started the market to create a place for the community to gather, share their talents, and promote growing and buying local products,” said Jen Callahan, a local grower along with her husband, Randy, and one of the primary organizers of the market. But, “seeing old friends run into each other and seeing the market grow each week, vendors show up and a crowd there each week, people returning and bringing friends, it’s been really fun and rewarding. I step back sometimes and think, I helped do this,” Callahan added, with a smile.
She said especially over the past week or two, it’s been fun to see old friends bumping into each other that haven’t seen one another in a long time.
There are plans for the market to return next year, anyone interested in helping organize or becoming a vendor, Callahan said please reach out to her on the Flandreau Farmer’s Market Facebook page. More specifics on the vendors coming for the final two markets this season, the products available and other details for Finale event will be updated on the Facebook page as well.
