Erin C. Konkol
Erin C. Konkol of Custer, SD passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the age of 53 surrounded by her family.
Erin Colleen was born to Gordon and LaVonne (Johnson) Dailey on January 1, 1965 in Flandreau, SD. She was the youngest of 5 children and attended Flandreau High School, graduating in 1983. Erin attended Southwest Minnesota State University and pursued a degree in accounting. There she met Joseph Konkol and the two married in 1986. In 1997, the couple and their three children moved to Custer, SD where Erin worked for Custer Lutheran Fellowship and then later at Custer School District as a special education paraprofessional. She retired from Custer School District in 2017.
Erin was known for her kind heart and giving spirit. Her compassion and love for all of God’s creatures was seen in her service to others. She enjoyed spending time with her family and three grandchildren doing various outdoor activities; her favorites include having bonfires and going camping.
Erin is survived by her husband, Joe of Custer, SD; her daughter, Kayla (Tyler) Noah of Dickinson, ND; her son, Jordan (Monica) Konkol of Custer, SD; daughter, Karley Konkol of Custer, SD; three grandchildren, Tatum Mitchell, Teigen Noah, and Tenley Noah; her sisters, Gail (Jim) Pfeifle of Cokato, MN and Teresa (Steve) Kortus of Brooklyn Park, MN; her brother, Graydon (Karen) Dailey of Spearfish, SD; stepmother, JoAnn Dailey of Flandreau, SD; stepbrothers, Marc Blum and Mike Blum both of Flandreau, SD; and numerous nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents; father, Gordon Dailey; mother, LaVonne Dailey; sister, Jane Dailey; step-brother Kevin Blum; and brother-in-law Russell Konkol.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Custer Lutheran Fellowship in Custer, SD. A luncheon will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Erin Konkol’s name to one of the following: Custer Lutheran Fellowship in Custer, SD, Custer School District Student Funds in Custer, SD, or Battle Mountain Humane Society in Hot Springs, SD.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home, Custer, SD.
