Edward A. Herrick, 83, of Watertown, SD, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, SD.
Ed was born May 18, 1935 at Egan, SD to Carlton and Minnie (Hopkins) Herrick. He graduated from Flandreau High School in 1953. Ed joined the Brookings National Guard and started farming at Bushnell, SD. He met the love of his life and married Delores Ward on October 9, 1960 in Brookings, SD. They farmed near White, SD, and then bought his dad’s farm near Egan, SD. Ed attended Vo-Tech for welding. They sold the farm in 1987 and moved to Aberdeen, SD. Ed worked as a salesman for a chemical company and in 1989 they moved to Watertown where he continued to work the same job. Later he worked maintenance at the Lake Norden Nursing Home, Holiday Inn in Watertown and then Brown Clinic in Watertown before retiring in 2012. His wife preceded him in death August 18, 2016.
Ed is survived by three children, Douglas (Sandra), Clark, SD; Debra Herrick, Steen, MN; Richard, Watertown; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ronald (friend Susan) Herrick, Aurora, SD; Kathy Herrick and Barbara (Alvin) Anderson, both of Flandreau, SD; Roger (Nancy) Herrick, Bushnell, SD; Allen (Peggy) Herrick, Brookings, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his wife and one granddaughter Brittney, parents, three brothers, Lauren, Maynard, Vince and two sisters, Sharon and Marilyn.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, SD, with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel. www.skrochfc.com
