Donald A. Fox, 90, of Hutchinson, MN, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 8, 2018.
Donald Arthur was born January 6, 1928 in Doon, IA to Rolland and Elizabeth (Sluiter) Fox. He went to Egan High School and later got his GED. Don married Doretta “Dort” Bothern in Moody County, SD, September 10, 1948. They lived in Sioux Falls for a short while after they got married and Don worked at John Morrell. They lived on a farm by Flandreau until the summer of 1968 when they moved to Madison, SD. Don worked for the Madison Water Plant and Amert Construction. They lived in Sioux Falls for a short while before moving to Hutchinson, MN May 1, 2010. His wife preceded him in death on February 18, 2015. Don enjoyed dancing, golfing, collecting golf balls and bowling.
Don is survived by daughter, Linda (Roger) Asmussen, Hutchinson; son, Gordon (Penny) Fox, Sioux Falls; two grandchildren, Jennifer “Jenni” (Bruce) Leonhardt, Dayton, MN; Jeremy (Kimanae “Kim”) Asmussen, Oceanside, CA; three great grandchildren, Riley, Landon, Logan; sister, Eleanor McMahon, Sioux Falls; sister-in-law Margaret “Mik” Fox, Princeton, MO and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his wife Doretta, infant daughter Dianne Lee, his parents, two brothers, Ronald and Harold, sister-in-law Molly Fox and brother-in-law Tom McMahon.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the United Methodist Church, Madison, SD, with burial in Union Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation is from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
