Dennis L. Whipkey, 69, a retired farmer from Trent, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Dennis was born on September 3, 1947 in Sioux Falls. He grew up and attended school in Trent, graduating in 1965. He was an avid railroad enthusiast and loved to watch and read about trains. He was very knowledgeable about trains. He farmed west of Trent until he retired in 2014 due to declining health. He continued to live on the farm until the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vinson and Frances Whipkey; an infant brother and his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Whipkey.
He is survived by his brothers, Ron (Marlene) of Sac City, IA, Loren (Jeanie) of Farmington, MN and Allen (Bernadette) of Northfield, MN; his six nieces and nephews, Terri, Troy, Brian, Lisa, Lindsay and Erin and his many cousins and friends.
His funeral service was held Saturday, April 22, 2017 in the Trent Baptist Church. Interment in the Trent Cemetery.
