Denise Myears, 57, of Flandreau, SD passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Avera McKennan Hospital.
Memorial service will be 11:00 am Friday, January 21, 2022 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 505 S. Wind Street, Flandreau, SD with interment at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD.
The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, January, 20 at Miller Funeral Home-Downtown, 507 S. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, SD.
Denise Ann Nelson, daughter of Curtis and Elizabeth “Betty” (Darger) Nelson, was born November 8, 1964 in Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up in Sioux Falls where she attended Renberg Elementary, Axtell Park Middle School and graduated from Washington High School in 1983. She attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion for a couple years.
She moved to Platte, SD where she worked for a Bee Farmer, and while there she met Mark Myears. As their relationship grew, they moved to Sioux Falls and then to Flandreau in 1997. They were united in marriage on their acreage on November 1, 1997. In 2000, they were blessed with their first child, Corbin, who sadly passed away two days after birth. They were fortunately blessed with a second son, Colin, in May of 2003, who has grown to be a wonderful young man and graduating from Flandreau High School this year.
Denise worked at the assisted living center in Trent and in Flandreau for about five years. She began working at the Flandreau Bakery where many people would know her at the counter for her bubbly personality and her gift of gab. She loved to meet and greet customers and friends.
She really loved her pets she had throughout the years. Denise was an excellent cook and baker. She loved camping and being with the people she loved.
She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Flandreau, SD.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Mark; and her son, Colin, both of Flandreau, SD; her father, Curtis Nelson, Sioux Falls, SD; her siblings, Dean Nelson and Dawn (Terry) Glaser, all of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Kathy Young, Ft. Pierre, SD; two brothers-in-law, Ernie (Tracy) Myears, Lake Andes, SD, Duane (Laurie) Myears, Remson, IA; several nieces and nephews; and Denise’s best friends, Shanna Strickland, Harrisburg, SD and Joi Reisenger, Silver Bay, MN.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Nelson; a son, Corbin Myears; father and mother-in-law, Gordon and Shirley Myears.
