Cossacks hand Fliers big loss

VOLGA – Sioux Valley beat Flandreau 58-6 in a high school football game Friday night.
The Cossacks built a 36-0 lead before the Fliers’ David Allen hauled in a 6-yard touchdown toss from Tanner Christenson at the 5:23 mark of the second quarter.
Christenson went 3-of-10 for 37 yards and ran for 16 yards. Matt Pauley ran 12 times for 33 yards. Tayson Alberts had a 27-yard catch.
Kevin Fernandez made eight tackles and Pauley and Caleb Dietrich added six apiece.

Sioux Valley led 52-6 at halftime.
“We didn’t come ready to play and it was pretty obvious from the get go,” said Coach Derek Genzlinger.
“We hang our hat on playing with great effort and playing hard for 4 quarters and we didn’t do that tonight. We are going to move on and get ready for next week (Homecoming game versus Garretson).”
The Cossacks’ Parker Puetz went 5-of-11 for 146 yards with three touchdowns and also ran for a pair of scores.
Jaxton Schiller picked up 81 yards on six rushes, scoring twice, and added had a TD grab. Damien Danziesen and Lane VanderWal added touchdown receptions.
Carson Christopherson ended the game with 1:58 left in third on a 12-yard scoring rush.
