Corsica-Stickney snaps Hawks win streak

MITCHELL – Corsica-Stickney beat Colman-Egan 48-35 in a boys’ basketball game at the DWU/Culver’s Classic on Saturday evening at the Corn Palace.

C-S snapped the Hawks’ 10 game winning streak.

Reserve Jaden Barse scored 12 points, Bryce Plamp 10, Jacob Joachim nine and Landon DeBoer eight for the Jaguars (14-2), who currently lead Region 6B in seed points.

Corsica-Stickney led 12-4 after a quarter, 26-11 at halftime and 35-22 through three.

The Hawks got 12 points and seven rebounds from Kade Groos. Keith Crisp added nine points and Dalton Voelker contributed eight.

ARLINGTON – The night before, the Hawks held off an Arlington fourth-quarter rally to hang on for a 52-51 Dakota Valley Conference win over the host Cardinals.

Colman-Egan led 10-9 after a quarter; 29-25 at halftime; and 41-35 through three, before the Cardinals closed with a 16-11 advantage to come up a point short.

Dalton Voelker posted a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds while Kade Groos tacked on 10 points for the Hawks.

Scott Sampson and Devon Heuer notched 15 points apiece for Arlington, which dropped to 12-5 on the season.

Colman-Egan (13-5) closes out the regular season with home games against Dell Rapids St. Mary today and Canistota on Friday.
