Cinthia L. Eckert

Cinthia L. Eckert, age 60 of San Jose, CA, passed on May 22, 2020 after a three year battle with cancer.

Cinthia Len was born on July 25, 1959 in San Jose to Vern and Thelma Allen. She was the youngest of five children and a member of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe.  In 1979, Cindy met the love of her life, John Eckert, while working at a machine shop. They married in 1985. She graduated from San Jose State University in 1990 shortly after becoming a mother. Cindy loved to volunteer at her daughter’s school in any way should could help - as a noon-mom, teacher’s aid, and fieldtrip chaperone. Cindy later went back to school at San Jose City College to further her education and love for helping people. She went on to volunteer at the Bill Wilson Center and also became a Registered Recovery Worker.

Throughout her years, Cindy enjoyed traveling to many places with her family and dogs. During her later years, equipped with her love of dogs and her cell phone, Cindy became a “pet detective”. She devoted many hours, daily, scanning for lost or found pets on social media all across California.

Cindy lit up any room she entered with her unending smile, humor and joy till her last breath.  Family mattered most, which all her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews can attest.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years: John Eckert; her daughter: Tara Eckert; two sisters: Sandra Allen and Pam (Richard) LaRoche; two brothers: Donny Allen and Dale (Leslie) Allen; 10 nieces and nephews, 13 great-nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Vern and Thelma Allen.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cindy requested donations to a local animal shelter or rescue.
