Christian “Dugan” R. Grafing Sr, age 81 of Flandreau, SD, died Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the Riverview Healthcare Center in Flandreau.
Christian (Dugan) R. Grafing Sr was born on May 27, 1938 in Flandreau, South Dakota, to Christian and Victoria (Henderson) Grafing. In 1957, he joined and served in the United States Air Force where he married Andrea Browning on June 10, 1961 in Rantoul, Illinois. Dugan owned and operated a country store (The Martin Mall) in Martin, SC with his wife before his retirement. The couple moved to Flandreau, SD in 2008. He was a Past President for the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Master Mason and Shriner with the Omar Temple in Charleston, SC, and a foreman for the Flour Daniel, but mostly he was an awesome Dad and husband who served the Lord in all aspects of his life.
Survivors include his two sons: Christian “Dusty” Grafing, Flandreau and Mark (Donna) Grafing, Mesquite, TX; one brother: Dick Grafing, Flandreau, SD; seven grandchildren: Lindsey (Jr) Johnson, Mallory (Branden) Ray, Christian R. (Kaitlyn) Grafing III, Jenneveve Dath, Geoffrey (Genny) Grafing, Jordan (Haley) Grafing and Daryan Grafing, and seven great grandchildren: Jayden and Adrian Morrison, Kaidyn Grafing, Kaylin Kinard and Kyzer, Ayden and Kylee Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Andrea Dauvella, and his daughter Meloney Sue.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Second Presbyterian Church, Flandreau with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a celebration of life for Dugan at Bar X immediately following the service. Southern Barbeque will be provided and please feel free to bring along your favorite side dish.
