Vs. Madison Broncos
Issuing nine walks in the first five innings led to six Madison Bronco runs giving the Cardinals 9-3 loss. John Gassman took the loss for the Cardinals after his two inning start. Kasen Grengs threw the middle innings with Bret Severtson finishing the final three frames.
The Cardinal bats weren’t much better with Ben Ihrke, Keith Cutler, Beau Severtson, Kasen Grengs, and Gassman each having a single apiece. Ihrke, Aiden Ladd, and Jordan Gesling accounted for the three Cardinal runs with Cutler and Grengs driving them in.
Vs, Dells PBR
Plating five runs in the bottom of the first inning wasn’t enough for the Cardinals to break into the win column as they dropped the game to Dell Rapds PBR, 9-6. The home team lead 6-4 through six innings but allowed three in the top of the seventh and never regained the lead.
Derick Veldkamp threw the first three innings before being relieved by Jordan Gesling who took the loss. Aiden Ladd threw the final inning, allowing two runs.
Bret Severtson’s first inning grand slam accounted for four of the five first inning runs. Severtson finished 1-2 with a walk to go along with the home run. Jake Patterson had a 3-4 day at the plate with a double, run scored, and walk. Beau Severtson added two hits, a double and a single with a run scored.
The Cardinals host the Humboldt/Hartford Wood Ducks on Thursday at 7:30 before traveling to Colman on Sunday for a 5 pm Father’s Day game.
