C-E volleyball season ends


MADISON – Chester Area and Ethan advanced to the SoDak 16 with semifinal wins in the Region 4B Volleyball Tournament on Thursday.
The Flyers (24-5) beat Hanson (13-16) 25-5, 25-8, 25-18. The Rustlers (26-6) defeated Colman-Egan 25-11, 25-23, 25-20.
The SoDak 16, formerly called Round of 16, is Tuesday.

Ethan 3, Colman-Egan 0
Jada Plastow and Cam Logan recorded 12 kills apiece to lead the Rustlers past the Hawks.
Jessica Bartscher dished out 30 set assists and netted a pair of service aces. Maddie Miller came up with 24 digs and Plastow added 16.
Colman-Egan’s Elizabeth Moore had five kills, an ace and 10 digs. Mackenzie Hemmer also had five kills. Katie Hannasch and Olivia Baumberger recorded six blocks apiece.
Kennedi Landis notched six set assists. Braiden Westley tallied 14 digs and an ace.
The Hawks finished the season with a 14-16 record.


First round
MADISON – Colman-Egan beat Elkton-Lake Benton 18-25, 26-24, 25-22, 25-23 in the quarterfinals of the Region 4B Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday.
Mackenzie Hemmer totaled seven kills, four blocks and three service aces for the Hawks. Olivia Baumberger also had seven kills.
Braiden Westley contributed four aces and 29 digs. Madison Voelker and Katie Hannasch both notched three blocks.
Kennedi Landis (14) and Jordan Wittrock (13) combined for 27 set assists. Elizabeth Moore came up with 24 digs.
For the Lady Elks, Hannah Krog finished with 16 kills, two blocks and an ace. Aubrey Wirth added 10 kills and five blocks. Julia Drietz tallied 26 set assists and 14 digs, while Rachel Krog notched 20 digs. Kaitlyn Drietz had three aces.
