Beverly Nace, 95, of Colman, SD passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Riverview Healthcare Community in Flandreau, SD. Bev was born April 5, 1922 in rural Colman, SD to Roy and Blanche Marie (Simmerman) Sayles. She attended Whaley School and graduated from Flandreau High School in 1939. Beverly was united in marriage to Gerald (Bud) Nace on February 15, 1940 in Pipestone, MN. She worked at Brende Electric and the Colman Cafe during her early years of marriage. She then dedicated her love and time to raising her five children. Bev was a member of the Colman United Methodist Church until it closed and afterwards attended the Colman Lutheran Church. She enjoyed needlework, gardening, playing cards, golfing and spending time with her family and friends. Her and Bud wintered in Arizona for many years.
She is survived by four children, Nancy VanRosendale, Madison, SD, Linda Baker, Sioux Falls, SD, Jim (Teri) Nace, Estelline, SD, and Andrea (Marc) VanVooren, Colman, SD; nine grandchildren: Scott, Jason, Stephanie, Bob, J.B., Chad, Dan, Austin, and Kaitlynn; fourteen great-grandchildren: Abbey, Madyson, Jayna, Hayden, Madeline, Eliot, Rob, John, Andy, Emily, Marcus, Aiden, Rylee, and Alayna; her sister, Blanche Kansanback; her sister-in-law, Elaine Sayles; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bud Nace; daughter, Jill Handel; two sisters, Jean Ellingson and Faye Gullickson; and two brothers, James Sayles and Richard Sayles.
The family expresses its gratitude to the wonderful care Bev received at Riverview Healthcare Community. Memorials may be directed to the Colman Cemetery.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Colman Lutheran Church with burial in the Colman Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman. www.skrochfc.com
