Five people were arrested in downtown Flandreau after authorities were called to an area outside of a bar on Wind Street on a report of a man and woman arguing shortly before 5 p.m. on March 19. When officers arrived, a car with all six windows either broken out or shattered left the area and officers tried to make a stop, said Police Chief Zach Weber. When the car stopped, the people inside fled. Of the five who were arrested, three were charged with being in possession of a stolen vehicle out of Sioux Falls, Weber said. One also was charged with false impersonation and identity theft. Other occupants had warrants out for their arrest. One was charged with simple assault domestic. Three of the five had Flandreau addresses, he said. In addition to Flandreau police, Moody County sheriff’s deputies and Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribal police assisted in the arrests.
