Annual Freedom Hunt Dates Set Looking for volunteers

Posted

The date for this year’s South Dakota Freedom Hunt at Sioux River Wildlife as been scheduled. The date for the special pheasant hunt is going to be Saturday, October 8th at Sioux River Wildlife (Tad Jacobs farm) north of Flandreau.
This will be the 18th year for the free hunt for those who may not have an opportunity to hunt. Disabled Veterans and others who have physical challenges are welcome to participate in this special day of hunting and fellowship. The day starts with coffee, a chance to meet and instruction. There then is an opportunity to shoot to make sure hunters are “tuned up” for bird hunting. Then they are taken to the field for a morning hunt. After the morning hunt a free lunch is served and then an afternoon hunt follows. The day is completed with a European style hunt which has become very popular at this event.
The Freedom Hunt is in need of volunteers, if you are able to help on October 8th please contact Tad Jacobs by calling 605-864-1150. Volunteers are needed to accompany each hunter and there also is a need for people to walk the fields. Volunteers are treated to a free lunch and a guaranteed fun day!
