A “State” of Celebration

Posted

It’s been since 1997 since a Flandreau Flier girls’ basketball team has earned its way to the State A Tourney. These girls have compiled a season record of 21-2 so far this season with three more games - at State in Rapid City - postponed to a date to be announced.

They won’t be headed out west to Rapid City just yet.

Due to the world-wide Coronavirus outbreak which has reached the United States, Flandreau Schools is among those who have shuttered its doors for the week.
The Centers for Disease Control has advised no large gatherings take place until the virus is under control.
To that, the South Dakota High School Activities Association has postponed the Class AA, A and the rest of Class B girls’ tournaments and also all three classes of boys’ tourneys. There is also a halt on the girls golf and track & field season practices.

Meanwhile, the girls had an impressive run in order to earn the right to participate in the Class A tournament. Watch for an announcement on dates for the tourney to be played.
