Spring Load Limits on County Roads

Moody County Highway Superintendent Marc Blum announces that spring load limits will beginning on Friday, March 3 until further notice.

Celtic Women DVD to be shown at Crystal Friday

A DVD titled "Musical Gems" by Celtic Women will be shown this Friday at the Crystal Theatre at 7:30 p.m. This is a family movie. The performance was recorded live at Notre Dame in South Bend, IN, and is a beautiful selection of Irish music by the singers and band of Celtic Women. It features great traditional Irish songs, with a choir and Irish dancers. The show will last just over an hour. Goodwill donations will be for support of the Crystal Theatre. Roses: Just Because, Order by Monday

The Flandreau Hospital Auxiliary is sponsoring their Roses: Just Because. Order deadlines are due Monday, March 20. Cost is $25 per dozen. See page 5 for details.

Team of Angels Breakfast is Sunday

The Team of Angels will host their 14th annual Breakfast on Sunday, March 19 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wm. Janklow Community Center in Flandreau. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for those ages 12 and under. See page 5 for more details.

Trent Soup & Pie Luncheon is Sunday

The Trent Area Scholarship Endowment will sponsor their Soup and Pie Luncheon at the Trent Gym on Sunday, March 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Genealogical meetings

The Moody County Genealogical Society meets every third Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Moody County Museum except in November and December.

Non-profit of the month is Team of Angels at Sparkle Car Wash

The Team of Angels Foundation in Flandreauhas been selected the Sparkle Car Wash’s Non-Profit of the Month for March.

Enhanced Concealed Carry Class

Flandreau City offers budget bill paying

Budget Billing is a free service available to City of Flandreau residential customers. Qualifying customers have the option to utilize a budget (flat) payment plan for monthly utility bills.

The program does NOT reduce the amount customers pay for utilities. Rather, it spreads the payments out more evenly over a 12-month period to spare from unpredictable bills that result from seasonal usage variations. Applications and information regarding eligibility requirements, terms and conditions are available at the City Office or online:


Transit rides available

Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership (ICAP) / Moody County Transit is a public transit system and offers rides to all ages for local activities and appointments, including school programs, day care, medical appointments, shopping, and employment. Cost is $2.00 per one-way ride in-town. There is no fare required for 60 and over, but a donation is appreciated.

Moody County Transit serves the Flandreau area and runs Monday through Friday during the school year from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

A round trip ride to Sioux Falls or Brookings for $10.00 may be scheduled for a Wednesday when there are enough riders. To schedule a ride call 864-1499 24 hrs. in advance.


Flandreau recycle

Flandreau City residents are invited and encouraged to voluntarily recycle. There is a dumpster located east of Flandreau City Office. Items that can be recycled include:

Plastics 1 & 2 - Hard plastics with a 1 or 2 only. Please check your plastics; some common items are marked with a 4 such as lids for items. Items must be clean.

Newspapers and Magazines - Must be dry.

Cardboard (corrugated and cereal box type) - Clean and dry.

Not Accepted:

~ pizza boxes of any kind (clean or used)


~ Plastic Bags

The items listed above can be comingled in the dumpster.
